The contemporary world is passing through a period of utmost confusion and unrest. The human values of morality have disappeared. Materialism and sensualism are rampant. The differences of race, colour and nationality are reigning over the face of the so-called advanced civilization
Our life in this temporary abode is for a sublime purpose. It is to recognise our Creator and Sustainer, Allah Ta'ala, and to establish His Deen on earth.
While fulfilling one's purpose and object of life, one will also need to acquire the necessities of life since this world is a place of means. The earning of a livelihood is thus a necessity for which one requires basic life skills — reading, writing, calculating and all that follows thereafter.

The 300 years of Islam in South Africa have seen the influence of Sheikh Yusuf Macasari dominate the first century with the establishment of Islam on these shores. The next hundred years felt the influence of Tuan Guru who saw to the establishment of the first Masjid and Madresa in SA. And the next century was overwhelmingly dominated by the works and sacrifice of Moulana Cassim Sema, the founder of the first Darul Uloom in SA(possibly the first Darul Uloom teaching through the medium of English in the world), who also had an immense role to play in establishing the work of Tableegh as well as Da'wah among non-Muslims.
