The Return of Hazrat Isa (AS)

Imran ibn Hussain (RA) reports that Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:

“In my Ummah, there will be one group that will always be on the truth (haq). They will remain victorious over the enemy. Their level of belief in and obedience to Allah Ta’ala (imaan and taqwa) will be extremely strong. (Additionally) they will have no doubt whatsoever about the fulfillment of Allah Ta’ala’s promise that Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) will descend”. (Musnad Ahmad)

The birth of Hazrat ‘Isa (AS), was in itself a miraculous event. It was only by the command of Allah Ta’ala, that Hazrat Jibraeel (AS) blew the soul (ruh) of Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) into Hazrat Maryam (AS). This then heralded the epoch-making and blessed (mubarak) birth of Nabi ‘Isa (AS). The Christian segment of Bani Israeel viewed the coming of Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) as the arrival of their last Prophet (The Mesiah). This turn of events seriously angered the Jewish fraternity of Bani Israeel.

They were quite annoyed and rather disturbed. As a matter of fact, deep hatred, bitterness and acrimony began to “ignite an inferno” inside their hearts. As revenge and retaliation, the Jewish fraternity of Bani Israeel set plans into motion in order to assassinate Nabi ‘Isa (AS). However, Allah Ta’ala had other and better plans. After all, Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) was a chosen Nabi of Allah Ta’ala, therefore He commanded the angels to raise Nabi ‘Isa (AS) to the heavens.

“And they said we have killed the Messiah Jesus son of Mary, the Messenger of God. They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, though it was made to appear like that to them; those that disagreed about him are full of doubt, with no knowledge to follow,

only supposition: they certainly did not kill him.
On the contrary, God raised him unto himself. God is almighty and wise.”
(Nisaa: 157-158)

The return of Nabi ‘Isa (AS) to earth before Qiyamaat and the slaying of the one-eyed apostate (dajjal), is a major sign from among the signs of the final hour. The second-coming of Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) to earth will be as the leader of the people, not as a Prophet. This is quite understandable, because the sequential line of prophethood had terminated, completely ceased, with the coming of Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam). Indeed, Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) was the “seal” of prophethood.

Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) would get married, have children, live a normal life and then die a natural death. The people will perform his Janazah Salaah and Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) will be buried alongside Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam).

It is the firm conviction and belief of Muslims that Hazrat ‘Isa (AS) was raised into the heavens and was not killed or crucified as is the belief of the Christians.

Allah Ta’ala emphatically states:

“--- they certainly did not kill him.

On the contrary, God raised him unto Himself. God is almighty and wise.”
(Nisaa: 157-158)
