The Nimat of the Tongue

The Nimat of the TongueAllah Ta’ala blessed us with the Nimat (favour) of the tongue. A favour that may be used for the sake of good or abused for malicious purposes.

Allah Ta’ala blessed us with the Nimat (favour) of the tongue. A favour that may be used for the sake of good or abused for malicious purposes.

Therefore, whoever uses it for the sake of good will surely enjoy the fruits of this world and the hereafter.

Consequently, whoever abuses the tongue would be deprived of the fruits of both worlds. After the recitation of the Noble Quran the best use of the tongue is in Zikrul Allah (Zikr of Allah).

Virtues Among many narrations of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) regarding the Zikr of Allah, listed hereunder are a few.

• Continuously keep the tongue wet in the Zikr of Allah (Tirmizi)

• The example of the one who makes the Zikr of Allah and the one who does not is like the example of a living person and a dead person (Bukhari + Muslim)

• In a hadith Qudsi Allah Ta’ala says: “I remember my servant whenever he remembers Me. When he remembers Me alone I remember him alone and whosoever remembers Me collectively then I will remember him (in the presence of the angels) or better than that. And whosoever comes to Me at a wrist length I will come to him at an arm’s length” (Bukhari)

• “The unique ones are above others”. They (Sahaba RA) asked, “Who are the unique ones O Prophet of Allah?” Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) replied, “They are the people who remember Allah” (Muslim)
Zikr to the heart is like the water for the fish. What will happen to the fish without water?
